I own a 1996 Maxima SE. It's actually my first 5 speed. The I-405 was a baptism of fire...but I learned.
Now, with my fellow Maxima enthusiasts, I occasionally go on the track to test the car's capabilities.
I've been steadily upgrading since I bought the car.
Bone stock and was already on the track (Streets of Willow).

Current mods include:

Eibach Pro-Kit Springs

While I was happy with the improvements with the CAI/tires, I felt I could have done better. It was 61 deg and the road was covered with fog...made me kinda nervous to be pushing near 100, even though it was an abandoned road. I also only made a few runs, unlike the first time when I did many. The times posted are what I could consistently do and not my best times...And, boy, those first runs were all over the place! (Hey, it's my first 5spd, gimme a break! hehe)

Well I did some runs with the new clutch and y-pipe. My performance was *gulp* less than impressive. While 1/4 mile times dropped a little to 15.2, 0-60 times went UP to the 6.9's - with a few in the low 7's. WHAT HAPPENED? Simply put - the driver sucked...hehe. My old method of running up to 2000 RPM and what *almost*? amounts to dropping the clutch caused a fenzy of wheel activity but minimal forward motion. This is maybe why my quarter mile improved a little while my 0-60 was not so great. The new clutch is way too grippy. I'm eager to try again. This time I'll try a lower rpm - maybe a thousand. I'm also thinking that my Yoko tires, now a year old, are not as grippy anymore.

I was finally able to get some dyno time. I was going to wait for Stillen's open house, but the SoCAL Sentra guys were having a group meet at R & D Dyno in Gardena,CA. So I hooked up with them to sneak in some cheap dyno time. Anyways, here's the average of three runs that I did (which were very consistent) in 3rd gear and at about 80 deg F ambient.

Hmmm...so, comparing this to the stock values, peak torque shifted up from 4000 to about 5000 RPM. Peak horsepower, however, is still at about 5600 RPM
