STILLEN REAR SWAY BAR
So what is this metal-thingy that looks like an unused staple?
The purpose of the rear sway bar (RSB) or anti-roll bar is to minimize
body roll during cornering. So having a RSB will help the car from leaning
too much to a side as you zip through that corner.
I highly recommend getting the RSB. It is a difference you will feel.
Nissan cheaped out on the Maxima, but the Infiniti's have them stock.
If you can afford it, I'd get the Stillen RSB since it is adjustable.
And you can move the RSB to a position so that you won't lose the rear
axle as a jack point.
The RSB is adjustable in a couple of ways. You can move the RSB before or
after the rear axle. The more forward of the rear axle, the more aggressive.
You can also increase stiffness by decreasing the arm length. There are
multiple holes on the arms for the Stillen RSB. By choosing which holes to
use for the clamps, you can adjust stiffness.
Installation is rather easy. This helps on the track when you want to make
adjustments. If you hear excessive popping noises back there after the
install, the bolts may have worked a little loose, so try retightining them.
Be careful how you set it up. Start conservatively and readjust as you get
a feel for the car's new abilities. Pay attention to the setting as well
if you make further modifications down the road on your suspension. You
don't want to make the car too tail happy and spin out on an onramp as *ahem*
someone I know did......oh all right it was me :P
