Sure Drain

If you haven't seen it before, basically it replaces the engine oil drain plug with a valve.

It comes with a valve and a special hose. You need the hose to open the valve and let the oil out.

Simply twist the hose on to the drain valve and the oil drains out.
Once the oil sump is empty, disconnect the hose to close the valve and
twist on the protective cap.

At first, I must admit I was a bit reluctant to try this because I wasn't sure how beneficial
it would really be...after all, how hard is it to remove a drain plug, right? But at $10,
I thought I'd try it...

You know what? I like it. It does make life easier. Oh, it's not "rock the world" kind of easier, but it does provide some benefits:

1) You don't need any tools (aside from the hose) to drain your oil.
2) You eliminate the step of having to retorque the drain plug when putting it back.
3) No more having to worry about when was the last time you changed the oil plug drain gasket.
4) If you screw up and overfill with oil, you can control how much you drain out much better.
5) With the hose, the oil drain process is much more controlled and you'll be less likely to spill.

LONG TERM UPDATE

I did another oil change the other day, and decided to do a little experimentation.
One thing I got to mention is that your oil will drain slower with the Sure Drain.
And since the Sure Drain's drain valve recesses inside the sump, I wondered how much oil wasn't
removed. So I drained my oil with the Sure Drain. Then when it stopped, I pulled the
Sure Drain off entirely. This is how much oil was left over:

I'd say about 2 ounces (1/3 of a cup) were left after the Sure Drain was done.
Personally, I don't think the benefits outweigh this disadvantage.
Yeah, you could call me picky, but they call it an oil Change not Dilution.
I want as much of the old crap out as possible. So back goes the old stock drain plug.

But it is a personal choice. If you'd rather have the convenience (ie if you don't have
a garage) then so be it. This thing can be picked up in most auto supply chain stores.
It's sold by FRAM so look for their catalog so you purchase the right Sure Drain for your car.
